HOW CAN YOU LIVE WITHOUT KNOWING THESE THINGS?

Walking off calories

In order to lose weight and get yourself fitter and healthier you need to build up to walking at least 10,000 steps a day.
10,000 steps is about 5 miles ,so every 5 miles that you walk, you are actually burning off approx 500 calories.
As a general rule walking one mile over level ground would mean you had walked off 100 calories - if you weighed about 150 pounds. Obviously the heavier you are, then the more calories you will walk off. If you walk up an incline the calories will drop off even faster. Just over 2,000 steps is the average when walking one mile.

  • One pint of beer = 4,100 steps
  • A large chocolate bar with nuts = 8,500 steps
  • One large whole milk latte = 5,450 steps
  • One slice of pepperoni pizza = 5,000 steps

How To Bathe a Cat Easily

    aacat.gif (7834 bytes)

    1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
    2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted.
    3. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
    4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to
stand on the lid so that he cannot escape). CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too
close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for any purchase they can find.
    5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a "powerwash and rinse" which is quite
    effective.
    6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between
the toilet and the outside door.
    7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
    8. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.
    Sincerely,
    Peppy, The Dog

There are more insects in one square mile of rural land than
there are human beings on Earth. (I'm itchy already)

Dragonflies have been around for millions of years. In fact, scientists have found fossils of dragonflies that are almost 270 million years old. These ancient dragonflies were huge; imagine a dragonfly six times as large as the largest dragonflies you see today. Take a look at a yardstick and you will get a good idea of how wide their wingspans were! Scientists believe that these ancient dragonflies were the largest insects that ever lived.

A sailing boat can actually sail faster than the wind. Every moving vehicle creates its own wind, and that can add to the real wind. By adjusting the angle of the sail, a boat can take advantage of this extra wind and then reach a maximum speed which is well over the actual wind speed.

The food can was invented around 1810, but the can opener wasn't invented until 1858. So how did people get the food out of cans for nearly half a century? A hammer and chisel, of course!
