JACK

"What's money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do." ...Bob Dylan

Jack was a Jock

Turn around
Don’t hit the ground
Faster, faster
Like your master
Spin the bottle
Hit the throttle
Money talks
And then you walk
You get well paid
You’ve made the grade

Jack was a jock, who bought and sold stock,
In fact, a real self-starter.
Standing in the path of a hurricane’s wrath,
He would wheel and deal and barter

Around and around the wheels did pound,
Said Jack, ”I’m going somewhere.
I’ve got no time to ease my mind.
Money is all I need
To plant my lifestyle seed.”

The years would pass and Jack did amass,
A fortune clearly stable.
He took time off and started to cough,
His body was not able.

With body old,
He turned to gold,
His pleasure freely bought.
He paid and paid, then began to fade.
But peace of mind was not,
Something he was taught.

Jack died, we cried,
In came the tide.
We called him good and kind.
He left his riches in the ditches.
Life he could not find.
His dreams were left behind.

Turn around
Don’t hit the ground
Faster, faster
Like your master
Spin the bottle
Hit the throttle
It’s too late
You’ve met your fate
Too late to find
What’s in your mind

You're done!

Smash Up Derby

Smash Up Derby

The world needs to find peace and freedom from propaganda, greedy men and fear mongers. When will we learn that the pen is mightier than the sword?

I’ve seen those pictures of skin and bones babies,
Who never got a mouthful of more than just maybes.
Never had a tummy full of Gerber’s or Heinz,
Living’s kind of tough behind the enemy lines.

Warthog flying low half a mile ahead,
Shooting bullets at the road and a hundred more are dead.
Crash, bang, smash ‘em up save the U.S.A.
Back in Carolina it’s smash up derby day.

Kill a Chevrolet.

I’ve read about really bad people doing fine,
Selling drugs and guns and they would kill you for a line.
Rich men grabbing more money all the time,
Watching people on the street getting by without a dime.

Rapper man flying high fifty yards ahead
Shooting bullets at a Caddie and another man is dead.
Crash, bang, smash ‘em up, violence and crime
Back in Carolina it’s smash up derby time.

Kill them in their prime.

Breakfast in the Garden

Breakfast in the Garden

Breakfast in the garden,
A very nice surprise.
A wonderful illusion
Created for your eyes.

You sit beside a lover
The choice was yours to make.
A man can only ask you
To give what he can’t take.

A kiss, an embrace, a whisper,
The world out of your mind.
No need to be careful,
The clouds are silver lined.

Searching for an answer
Driving in your car.
The road is getting shorter
To find out who you are.

A passionate girl
Who wants to be
In her own space and time,
It’s your destiny.
An intelligent girl
Who wants to see,

Herself....just herself.

I See a Man

Space Dolphins

Some people call you a dreamer by trade
An optimistic fool who never made the grade.
You see a future that rust will not fade
Time cannot destroy and lies will never jade.

All around you there are apathetic eyes
Driving through the day in mega super-size.
Never free, their faces smile in disguise
Always wanting more…nothing satisfies.

Imagine war as a word no one knows
Truth is the only thing that anybody owes.
There are no smokestacks all standing in rows
A greedy man only reaps what he sows.

Some people call you a dreamer by trade
An optimistic fool who never made the grade.
I see an honest man who earns what he gets paid
Believes in what is right and will not be afraid.

Not Even You

Bikini Hawaii

No one can or ever will break my spirit or own my soul.

I guess you want me to take you out,
Spend all my money and then you want to run me around.
Why should I care what your love's about?
When you don't even leave a trace to be found.

If there's a heart to be taken
It won't be mine you're breakin'
Now I'm making a stand.
So many fools for your lovin'
Have fallen by the dozen
And they crash when they land.

Nobody baby, is going to break my heart tonight.
Nobody crazy, is ever going to win that fight.

Not even you.

I used to want you so bad it hurt.
Now I don't even get aroused any more.
Why did you have to be such a flirt?
Give me a reason or I'm right out the door.

If there's a heart to be taken
It won't be mine you're breakin'
I can see what you are.
So many fools for your lovin'
Have fallen by the dozen
Get away from my car.

Nobody baby, is going to break my heart tonight.
Nobody crazy, is ever going to win that fight.

Not even you.

Some People Love

Out of the Blue

Good planets are hard to find, so let’s make the best of this one and make more love and less war.

Some people love
And some people hate.
Some people rage
And others just wait.

I want you to love me
Like nobody can.
Color my rainbow
And cover your man.

Dying is easy
Living is tough.
Time can be wasted
There’s never enough.

If I make you laugh
You won’t have to cry.
Just you and me baby
Until we both die.

Old can be young
And young can be old.
Men can be bought
And sex can be sold.

But just making love
Is a natural high.
Give me your body
Come fly in the sky.

Some people love
And some people hate.
Right now I don’t care
Because I feel great.

Cold Bloody Days

The big kids on the block do not have to be bullies. When everyone grows up, every smaller child remembers past aggression and some may seek revenge. I have no expectations about living in a perfect world, only an ideal that fairness and tolerance should prevail. With fewer enemies, nations could spend more military money on world health and prosperity instead of death and destruction. When people are ready for freedom they will choose to embrace it and rid themselves of despots. The human spirit always finds a way. In the meantime, it doesn’t hurt to have the biggest stick in the schoolyard just in case.

cold bloody days  peace dove

We have learned the ways of cold bloody days,
Where religion and lies are a useful disguise

For army ants to attack in a trance
And the righteous engage the ones who enrage

The followers of, some God up above
Who may or may not condone the onslaught,

Depending on who is backing the coup
But the money is why things get bloody.

Cowboys and oil can make your blood boil
And then bushwhack the “folks” in Iraq

Osama, the Taliban, a Korean madman,
From Pol Pot to Hitler they fester and blister.

The lust for power is in the stone altar
That men lay upon until they are gone

Some rat bastards will be dining on swill
And steal no more from the candy store.

While others seek to lead and speak
For the masses who, are me and you

But once in power the man of the hour
Becomes abrupt and then corrupt

There is no trust but we always adjust
To rehashed dogma from a hooded cobra

Protect our own space without disgrace.
Help people live and not be held captive.

When diplomacy rules we don’t need the tools
Of modern weapons and covert actions.

Military madness is never bloodless.
Why do we kill? Where is our freewill?

“Buy me that toy!” begged the small boy.
“You want another?” asked his mother.

“It’s a really cool gun, I can shoot on the run,
It won’t hurt anyone and I’ll have so much fun.”

The next generation is in your nation
And learning the ways of cold bloody days.

Road Kill

I called and they put me right through to your room
But I did not want to talk to you.
You have only been in de-tox for two days
And I just needed to see if you were okay.

Your lunch was getting cold so I hung up
Wondering if you were only driving
An eighteen-wheeler on the road to sobriety

That would run me over like road kill.

Hunted Creatures

Hunted Creatures

My chair in the forest is a rock.
My footstool is a log.
Nothing moves but the wind.

The eyes of every hunted creature are upon me
But I only sense their presence
As they silently move away.

Today I am not a hunter.
The Ruffed Grouse can fly freely
In the cedar trees and pines

Solitude is all I want.
The deer can run and
Tattletale Blue Jays can be silent.

Yellow rays begin to break
Through heavy mist and
Banish the chill from my heart.

There is no room in my mind
For anything but the smell
Of wood and water.

A tear is hardly noticed
Falling to the ground
Joining the drops of dew.

Beating wings softly land
On the leaves in front of me
And three startled eyes meet.

We make no sound.
We do not move.

Frozen ….like photographs of you.
